President Clinton used this power
140 times in eight years. Now, President Bush has used it to appoint a highly controversial figure to the position of ambassador to the United Nations.
Some Democrats argue that the President should not have used this power to appoint an Ambassador. However, these Democrats must have forgotten about President Clinton's recess appointment of
James Hormel, ambassador to Luxembourg. That was a highly controversial appointment that many of them shrugged off.
Some senators support John Bolton and say that he is
qualified for the job, yet others say that we should
fear his appointment to ambassador.
So, what is the meat of this story? Those that worship the UN and everything it stands for, fear the new ambassador. Those that see the UN as a cesspool of fraud and corruption, are praising his appointment. So, this leads us to another question; Is the UN something good in the world or something evil?
Just how
corrupt is the UN? We all know about the
Oil for Food scandal. We have heard about the
atrocities in Rwanda. Is the United Nations so out of control that even Kofi Annan can't control it? Maybe it is time to play hardball.
What is so good about the United Nations? The United Nations has had some
Major Achievements. Among these achievements is The UN's environmental program,
Agenda 21 ,and their global dissarmament program,
Document 7277.
There is a group that is devoted to uncovering the corruption and atrocities in the United Nations.
"Get US Out" has brought Agenda 21 and Document 7277 to light in hopes that people understand just how these two agendas affect the United States and undermine our Constitution. The environmental Left in this country supports Agenda 21 simply because they put their agenda ahead of Constitutional rights. The same is true for peace advocates on the Left and their support of Document 7277.
The United Nations has been manipulating the Left's ideology to work in favor of undermining the very basis of our Nation, The Constitution. These groups on the Left are also the ones that are crying foul at the very idea that John Bolton is now the US ambassador to the UN. I hear that crying as a good sign that President Bush has made the correct choice. It is time to play hardball with the United Nations and turn that institution back into something good. John Bolton will be a much needed voice of descent in dealing with the UN.
